About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geneticist to join their pioneering research division in Glasgow . This role is central to advancing our understanding of genetic disease mechanisms and developing innovative diagnostic tools. You will lead projects focused on human genetics, population genetics, and the application of genomic technologies to identify disease-causing variants and understand complex genetic traits. Working within a state-of-the-art facility, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, clinicians, and data analysts to drive impactful research outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Lead research projects focused on human genetics, including variant discovery, association studies, and functional genomics.
- Design and implement experiments using a variety of genetic and genomic technologies (e.g., GWAS, WGS, exome sequencing, targeted sequencing).
- Analyze complex genetic datasets using appropriate bioinformatics tools and statistical methods.
- Interpret genetic findings and translate them into insights regarding disease etiology and potential therapeutic targets.
- Collaborate with clinicians and researchers to integrate genetic data into patient care and research initiatives.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to the development of new research methodologies in genetics .
Requirements
- PhD in Genetics , Human Genetics, Genomics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in genetic research.
- Strong expertise in experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation of genetic and genomic data.
- Proficiency with bioinformatics software and databases relevant to human genetics.
- Demonstrated experience with statistical genetics methods and population genetics principles.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a track record of scientific publications.
