Senior Geneticist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly qualified Senior Geneticist to join their research division in Norwich . This position is key to advancing our understanding of genetic mechanisms underlying disease and developing innovative genetic therapies. You will design and execute complex genetic studies, analyze genomic data, and interpret results to guide research strategy. The ideal candidate will possess a deep expertise in human genetics, molecular genetics, and genomics, coupled with strong analytical skills and a commitment to contributing to groundbreaking scientific discoveries in a collaborative research setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement genetic research projects, including association studies, linkage analysis, and functional genomics.
• Perform and interpret a wide range of molecular genetic techniques, such as PCR, sequencing (Sanger, NGS), and genotyping.
• Analyze large-scale genomic datasets using bioinformatics tools and statistical methods.
• Identify genetic variants associated with disease phenotypes and investigate their functional consequences.
• Collaborate with other researchers, clinicians, and bioinformaticians to integrate genetic findings into broader research programs.
• Prepare research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentation at scientific conferences.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Genetics, Molecular Biology, Genomics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in human or medical genetics.
• Proficiency in molecular genetics techniques and experience with next-generation sequencing data analysis.
• Strong statistical and bioinformatics skills, with experience using relevant software packages.
• Deep understanding of genetic principles, population genetics, and disease gene mapping.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and project management skills.
