Senior Geologist - Exploration

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a highly skilled Senior Geologist with a specialization in Exploration to join their team in Sunderland . This role is fundamental to identifying and evaluating new exploration opportunities, utilizing advanced geological concepts and data interpretation techniques. You will be responsible for integrating seismic, well, and core data to build robust geological models and assess prospectivity. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to the company's strategic growth by discovering and defining new hydrocarbon reserves, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary exploration team committed to pushing the boundaries of geological understanding.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret and integrate diverse geological datasets, including seismic, well logs, cores, and regional studies.
• Develop and refine 3D geological models for exploration and appraisal prospects.
• Conduct geological risk assessments and quantify uncertainties for potential reserves.
• Identify and propose new drilling targets based on detailed prospect evaluation.
• Collaborate with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and drilling teams to optimize exploration strategies.
• Stay current with the latest geological technologies and methodologies in the oil and gas sector .

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Geology or a related geoscience discipline.
• At least 7 years of relevant experience in exploration geology, with a strong track record of successful prospect identification.
• Proficiency in geological workstation software (e.g., Petrel, GeoGraphix, Kingdom Suite).
• Experience with seismic interpretation, sequence stratigraphy, and sedimentology.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are necessary for this position in Sunderland .
