About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a distinguished Senior Geologist specializing in exploration to join their fully remote team. Based remotely and supporting operations in the Newcastle upon Tyne region and beyond, you will play a crucial role in identifying and evaluating new hydrocarbon prospects. This position demands a deep understanding of regional geology, seismic interpretation, and prospect risking. You will leverage advanced subsurface imaging techniques and integrated geological datasets to define drilling targets and contribute to strategic exploration planning. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the geological evaluation of exploration basins and the identification of potential hydrocarbon plays.
- Interpret complex seismic data , well logs, and core data to build subsurface geological models.
- Perform detailed prospect mapping, risking analysis, and volumetric calculations.
- Collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers to integrate geological models with geophysical interpretations and reservoir studies.
- Utilize advanced geological software and techniques for data visualization and analysis.
- Prepare technical presentations and reports for exploration strategy meetings and investment committees.
Requirements
- Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science field.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in exploration geology , with a strong track record in the Oil & Gas sector .
- Expertise in seismic interpretation, structural geology, and sedimentology.
- Proficiency with geological modeling and visualization software (e.g., Petrel, GeoGraphix).
- Experience with basin analysis and play fairway mapping.
- Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a remote environment.
