Senior Geologist - Offshore Exploration

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geologist with a strong background in offshore exploration to join their dedicated team in Newcastle upon Tyne . You will play a crucial role in identifying and evaluating potential hydrocarbon prospects, contributing significantly to the company's exploration strategy and success. This hybrid position offers the flexibility to work both in the office and remotely, combining collaborative team efforts with focused individual work. You will be integral to subsurface analysis, risk assessment, and the geological interpretation required for successful exploration campaigns in challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the geological evaluation of offshore exploration blocks, including seismic interpretation and prospect risking.
• Integrate multi-disciplinary datasets (seismic, well logs, core data) to build robust geological models.
• Develop and present detailed geological reports and prospect documentation to management and partners.
• Collaborate closely with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and drilling teams to de-risk exploration opportunities.
• Utilize geological software for data analysis, mapping, and visualization.
• Contribute to the strategic planning of exploration activities and advise on optimal drilling targets.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geology or a related geoscience discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in oil and gas exploration geology, with a significant focus on offshore environments.
• Proficiency in seismic interpretation and 3D visualization software (e.g., Petrel, GeoGraphix).
• Strong understanding of petroleum systems, sequence stratigraphy, and sedimentology.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex geological concepts.
