Senior Geologist - Subsurface Exploration

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Geologist to join their exploration team in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is crucial for identifying and evaluating new opportunities within the energy sector , particularly in subsurface exploration for hydrocarbon resources. You will be responsible for interpreting complex geological data, developing subsurface models, and assessing the viability of potential exploration targets. Key Responsibilities

• Interpret and integrate various geological data, including seismic, well logs, core samples, and outcrop data, to understand subsurface structures.
• Develop and refine 3D geological models for exploration prospects and existing fields.
• Assess geological risks and uncertainties associated with exploration targets, providing clear recommendations to management.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers and geophysicists to define drilling targets and optimize exploration strategies.
• Prepare detailed geological reports, presentations, and summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
• Stay current with advancements in geological software, exploration techniques, and industry best practices.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in subsurface exploration geology, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite) and seismic interpretation tools.
• Strong understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, and sedimentology relevant to hydrocarbon systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings effectively.
