Senior Geologist - Subsurface Exploration

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a skilled Senior Geologist to join their exploration team based in Cardiff . This vital role focuses on the subsurface evaluation and exploration of new and existing prospects within the Oil & Gas industry . You will be responsible for interpreting geological data, developing prospectivity maps, and contributing to the strategic planning of exploration activities. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of geological principles and a proven ability to apply them in an asset-focused environment, working within the dynamic landscape of the Cardiff region and contributing to the company's growth and success in exploration endeavors.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret and integrate diverse geological data sets, including seismic, well logs, and core data.
• Develop detailed geological models and maps for exploration prospects and producing fields.
• Perform geological risk assessments and contribute to the evaluation of exploration opportunities.
• Collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers to build integrated subsurface models.
• Identify and propose new exploration targets based on regional geological studies.
• Stay abreast of the latest geological concepts and technologies relevant to the Oil & Gas sector .

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geology or a related earth science discipline.
• A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in exploration geology, preferably within the Oil & Gas industry .
• Proficiency in geological software packages (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite) for interpretation and modeling.
• Strong knowledge of structural geology, sedimentology, and stratigraphy.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Experience working with UK subsurface data is advantageous for this role in Cardiff .
