Senior Geoscientist - Carbon Capture

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Geoscientist with expertise in Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) to join their innovative team in Oxford . This role is at the forefront of developing solutions for climate change, focusing on the geological assessment and monitoring of CO2 storage sites. You will lead subsurface evaluations, contribute to site selection, and provide geological insights to ensure the safe and effective long-term storage of carbon dioxide. This is a vital position for advancing sustainable energy technologies and mitigating environmental impact within the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate geological formations for suitability as CO2 storage reservoirs , considering capacity and injectivity.
• Develop and interpret subsurface models using seismic, well log, and core data.
• Assess geological risks, including leakage pathways and containment integrity.
• Design and oversee geological monitoring programs for CCS sites.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers and geochemists on storage site performance analysis.
• Prepare technical reports and regulatory documentation for CCS projects.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, with a focus on subsurface characterization and risk assessment.
• Proven experience in evaluating geological storage potential, preferably for CCS applications.
• Strong proficiency in seismic interpretation, well log analysis, and geological modeling software.
• Understanding of geomechanical principles and fluid flow in porous media.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
