Senior Geoscientist - Exploration

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geoscientist specializing in Exploration to join their forward-thinking team based in Manchester . This critical role will focus on identifying and evaluating new exploration opportunities within the Oil & Gas sector, utilizing advanced geophysical techniques and geological data analysis. You will play a key part in the subsurface characterization of potential prospects, contributing directly to the company's growth strategy. This hybrid role offers a blend of in-office collaboration and remote flexibility, allowing you to contribute effectively while maintaining a balanced work schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the interpretation of seismic, well log, and core data to identify and delineate hydrocarbon prospects.
• Develop integrated geological models incorporating petrophysical, sedimentological, and structural data.
• Conduct detailed risk assessment and uncertainty analysis for exploration targets.
• Collaborate closely with reservoir engineers and drilling teams to define well objectives and optimal locations.
• Manage and mentor junior geoscience staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Stay abreast of the latest technologies and methodologies in exploration geoscience.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related earth science discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in oil and gas exploration , with a significant portion in seismic interpretation and prospect generation.
• Expertise in seismic data processing and interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom).
• Strong understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, and sedimentology.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment and communicate complex findings to diverse audiences.
