Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Energy Projects

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Engineer to contribute to their ambitious energy projects in Manchester . You will play a pivotal role in assessing ground conditions, designing foundations, and mitigating geotechnical risks for a variety of energy infrastructure, including power plants, wind farms, and transmission networks. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the stability and long-term viability of these critical developments. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geotechnical site investigations, including planning, supervision, and interpretation of field and laboratory testing.
• Perform advanced geotechnical analyses for foundation design (shallow and deep), slope stability, earth retention systems, and ground improvement.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, design recommendations, and specifications for energy infrastructure projects.
• Liaise with clients, project managers, and design teams to provide expert geotechnical advice and solutions.
• Oversee construction monitoring and testing, ensuring compliance with design specifications and relevant codes.
• Mentor junior geotechnical engineers and contribute to the technical development of the team.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or eligibility is highly preferred.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering , preferably within the energy sector .
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or similar modelling tools.
• In-depth knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
• Strong report writing and communication skills, with experience presenting technical findings.
