Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Renewables

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their expanding, remote-first team, focusing on the renewable energy sector . This pivotal role involves providing expert geotechnical advice and design solutions for a range of projects, including wind farms, solar installations, and battery storage facilities. You will lead site investigations, interpret complex geological data, and develop robust foundation designs to ensure the long-term stability and performance of renewable energy infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage geotechnical investigations for renewable energy projects, including site selection, survey planning, and data acquisition.
• Perform detailed geotechnical analyses for foundation design, including shallow and deep foundations, anchors, and slope stability assessments for turbines, solar arrays, and substations.
• Interpret soil and rock mechanics data from investigations and laboratory testing, preparing comprehensive geotechnical reports.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes of practice (e.g., IEC 61400-3 ), and client specifications.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior geotechnical engineers and support staff.
• Collaborate closely with structural engineers, project managers, and clients to deliver integrated and optimized solutions.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering , with specific exposure to the renewable energy sector (wind, solar, BESS).
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., PLAXIS 2D/3D, GeoStudio, FLAC).
• Strong understanding of soil-structure interaction, foundation engineering principles, and ground improvement techniques.
• Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills for a remote audience.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent professional qualification is highly advantageous.
