Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to contribute to their projects from their Belfast base. This role is crucial for assessing ground conditions, designing foundations, and providing expert advice on slope stability and earthworks for a variety of infrastructure and building projects. You will lead complex geotechnical investigations, interpret data, and develop innovative solutions to mitigate ground-related risks. Key Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and execute detailed geotechnical investigations, including site reconnaissance, trial pits, and borehole drilling programs.
• Analyze soil and rock mechanics data, conduct slope stability analyses, and perform foundation design calculations.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, including recommendations for foundation design, ground improvement, and earthworks.
• Provide expert technical advice to clients, project teams, and contractors on geotechnical matters.
• Oversee the supervision of construction works related to foundations, retaining structures, and earthworks.
• Mentor and guide junior geotechnical engineers, fostering their technical development and contribution.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in geotechnical engineering.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or eligibility for chartered status is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or similar analysis tools.
• In-depth knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology principles.
• Excellent report writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
