Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their established team in Belfast . This crucial role involves managing and delivering complex geotechnical investigations and designs for a diverse portfolio of projects, including major infrastructure, building developments, and renewable energy schemes. You will be responsible for providing expert advice on ground conditions, foundation design, slope stability, and earthworks, ensuring the safety and viability of construction projects. Key Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical site investigations, including planning, supervision, and interpretation of data from boreholes, CPTs, and trial pits.
• Undertake detailed analysis and design for foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, and earthworks using industry-standard software.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, specifications, and design drawings for clients and regulatory approval.
• Manage geotechnical aspects of multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior geotechnical engineers and technicians.
• Collaborate with project managers, structural engineers, and clients to develop practical and cost-effective ground engineering solutions.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 6 years' experience in geotechnical engineering practice.
• Proficiency in geotechnical design software (e.g., GeoStudio suite, Plaxis) and relevant analytical methods.
• Thorough understanding of UK geotechnical standards and Eurocodes.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
