Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their dynamic team in Leicestershire . This is a critical role focused on assessing ground conditions, designing foundational solutions, and managing risks associated with a wide range of mining and civil engineering projects. You will play a pivotal part in ensuring the safety, stability, and economic viability of our operations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and site investigation techniques, contributing to complex projects across the UK and potentially internationally, within a company that prides itself on innovation and a commitment to best practices in engineering and environmental stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive geotechnical site investigations , including planning, supervision, and interpretation of field and laboratory testing.
• Develop detailed geotechnical designs for foundations, earthworks, slope stability, and underground excavations in mining environments.
• Perform complex numerical modelling and stability analyses using industry-standard software.
• Prepare high-quality technical reports, specifications, and tender documents for a variety of stakeholders.
• Provide expert technical advice and mentorship to junior engineers and site teams.
• Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and other project consultants to ensure project objectives are met.

Requirements

• A Master's degree or higher in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in geotechnical engineering , with significant exposure to the mining sector.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or similar for ground modelling and analysis.
• Strong understanding of UK mining regulations and best practices.
• Excellent report writing, presentation, and communication skills.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or eligibility to obtain it is highly desirable.
