Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Geotechnical Engineer to enhance their specialist team based in Southampton . This role is vital for assessing ground conditions and providing expert advice on foundation design, slope stability, and earthworks for a variety of construction projects throughout the Hampshire region. You will lead investigations, interpret complex soil data, and develop innovative geotechnical solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and execute geotechnical site investigations, including borehole drilling and in-situ testing.
• Analyze and interpret ground investigation data to assess soil and rock mechanics properties.
• Undertake detailed design of foundations, retaining walls, earthworks, and slope stability solutions.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, risk assessments, and technical recommendations.
• Provide expert advice on geotechnical issues to project teams, clients, and contractors.
• Oversee site works and construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Significant professional experience (7+ years) in geotechnical engineering.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software packages (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio).
• Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and ground improvement techniques.
• Experience in managing investigations and design projects from inception to completion.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills, with a methodical approach to problem-solving.
