Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a seasoned Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their thriving consultancy practice in Southampton . This role is crucial for assessing ground conditions and providing expert advice on foundation design, slope stability, and earthworks for a variety of infrastructure and development projects across the region. You will lead investigations, interpret complex soil data, and develop innovative solutions to challenging ground-related problems. This is a prime opportunity for an experienced geotechnical engineer to take on greater responsibility, mentor junior staff, and significantly influence project outcomes in Hampshire .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage geotechnical site investigations, including planning, supervision, and interpretation of ground investigations.
• Perform detailed geotechnical analyses for foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, and earthworks.
• Develop comprehensive geotechnical reports, providing clear recommendations and design parameters.
• Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and design teams to ensure sound geotechnical solutions are integrated into projects.
• Oversee the quality control of geotechnical data and methodologies employed by site investigation teams.
• Provide expert technical advice and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians within the team.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or eligibility is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 8 years' relevant experience in geotechnical engineering .
• Proficiency in geotechnical software for slope stability, foundation design, and settlement analysis.
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, engineering geology, and UK geotechnical standards.
• Excellent report writing, presentation, and client management skills.
