Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their esteemed engineering consultancy based in Southampton . This role is vital for providing expert geotechnical advice and solutions for a diverse portfolio of infrastructure and construction projects. You will be responsible for planning and overseeing site investigations, analysing soil and rock mechanics, and designing foundations, earthworks, and slope stability measures. Working within a collaborative environment, you will play a key role in ensuring the stability and safety of ground-related engineering works. Key Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and interpret geotechnical site investigations, including borehole logging, CPT, and in-situ testing.
• Perform detailed geotechnical analyses for foundations (shallow and deep), retaining walls, slope stability, and ground improvement schemes.
• Develop comprehensive geotechnical reports, including desk studies, ground condition assessments, and design recommendations.
• Liaise with clients, project managers, and contractors to provide clear and concise geotechnical solutions.
• Oversee site supervision for geotechnical works, ensuring compliance with design specifications and best practices.
• Utilize advanced geotechnical software for modeling and analysis, ensuring accurate and reliable results.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a strong understanding of soil mechanics and engineering geology.
• Proficiency in using geotechnical design software such as PLAXIS , GeoStudio , or similar.
• Experience in managing geotechnical projects from inception to completion.
• Excellent report writing skills and the ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it is highly desirable.
