Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client, a leading consultancy firm supporting the Oil & Gas sector, is seeking a skilled Senior Geotechnical Engineer to be based in Portsmouth . This position is crucial for providing expert ground engineering advice for offshore and onshore projects, ensuring the stability and integrity of structures and foundations. You will be involved in site investigations, data analysis, and the design of foundations, slopes, and earthworks. Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage site investigation campaigns, including ground investigation methods and sampling.
• Conduct detailed geotechnical analysis for foundations (e.g., piles, jackets), embankments, and excavations.
• Develop ground models and provide recommendations for foundation design and ground improvement techniques.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, specifications, and design drawings.
• Liaise with clients, project managers, and construction teams to provide ongoing geotechnical support.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and best practices in the Oil & Gas and civil engineering fields.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with exposure to the Oil & Gas industry or major infrastructure projects.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software packages (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, SLOPE/W).
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
• Experience with offshore geotechnical investigations and foundation design is highly advantageous.
• Excellent report writing, presentation, and project management skills.
