Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their expanding team in Belfast , Northern Ireland. This role is vital for assessing ground conditions and providing expert recommendations for a variety of infrastructure and construction projects. You will be responsible for managing geotechnical investigations, interpreting data, and developing innovative foundation and earthworks designs. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to lead challenging projects, contribute to significant developments across Northern Ireland, and mentor junior colleagues within a supportive and forward-thinking organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and execute comprehensive geotechnical investigations, including site reconnaissance and ground investigations.
• Interpret geotechnical data from site investigations, laboratory testing, and existing records.
• Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, foundation designs, slope stability analyses, and earthworks specifications.
• Provide expert advice on ground-related issues and risks to project teams and clients.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and industry best practices.
• Oversee site works, including foundation construction and earthworks, providing technical support and supervision.

Requirements

• A degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of post-graduate experience in geotechnical engineering.
• Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
• Experience with geotechnical software such as Plaxis , Geo5 , or similar.
• Familiarity with site investigation techniques and interpretation of geophysical surveys .
• Excellent report writing and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
