Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their prestigious engineering consultancy in Southampton . This role is vital for providing expert geotechnical analysis and design for a variety of challenging projects within the oil and gas industry and related infrastructure sectors. You will lead complex investigations, develop innovative solutions, and ensure the structural integrity and stability of foundations, pipelines, and offshore structures. Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage ground investigations, including site reconnaissance, intrusive investigations, and laboratory testing programs.
• Perform detailed geotechnical analysis for foundations, slopes, retaining walls, and underground structures using advanced numerical modeling techniques.
• Develop design specifications for foundations, earthworks, and marine structures, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
• Provide expert technical input and review for project proposals, reports, and designs.
• Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and construction teams to ensure successful project delivery and resolution of geotechnical issues.
• Mentor junior engineers, review their work, and contribute to the technical development of the geotechnical team.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, with significant exposure to the oil and gas sector .
• Proficiency in geotechnical design software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, FLAC) and site investigation techniques.
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and engineering geology principles.
• Experience with offshore geotechnics, including pipeline and platform foundation design, is highly desirable.
• Excellent report writing, presentation, and project management skills.
