Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their expanding team in the vibrant city of Brighton . This role is crucial for providing expert geotechnical advice and design solutions for a range of development projects across the South East. You will lead site investigations, undertake complex analyses, and deliver robust design reports, working collaboratively with clients and project teams. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced geotechnical professional to take on significant project responsibility, contribute to challenging projects in East Sussex , and grow within a forward-thinking consultancy.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and manage ground investigations, including desk studies, intrusive investigations, and in-situ testing.
• Perform detailed geotechnical analyses, including slope stability, foundation design, and seismic assessments.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical design reports, foundation specifications, and construction method statements.
• Liaise with clients, developers, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure project objectives are met.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior geotechnical engineers and technicians.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with relevant codes of practice, standards, and health and safety regulations.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering; a Master's degree is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 6 years' post-graduate experience in geotechnical engineering.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it (e.g., MICE, MCIWEM).
• Proficiency in geotechnical software such as Plaxis, GeoStudio, or similar.
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and ground improvement techniques.
• Excellent report writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
