Senior Geotechnical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their leading consultancy based in Bristol . This role is critical for assessing ground conditions, providing expert advice on foundation design, slope stability, and earthworks for a variety of major infrastructure and development projects. You will lead complex investigations, interpret data, and develop innovative engineering solutions to mitigate ground-related risks, ensuring the stability and longevity of critical structures.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage geotechnical investigations, including site reconnaissance, borehole logging, and in-situ testing.
• Perform detailed geotechnical analysis, including slope stability, settlement analysis, and foundation design using specialized software .
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, foundation recommendations, and mitigation strategies.
• Provide expert technical input and guidance on geotechnical aspects of projects across various sectors.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Mentor and develop junior geotechnical engineers within the team, fostering technical growth.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of post-graduate experience in geotechnical engineering consultancy .
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional registration.
• In-depth knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
• Proficiency in geotechnical software packages (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio) is essential.
• Experience in managing projects and client relationships within the Bristol region.
