About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and proactive Senior Health and Safety Officer to join their remote-first construction team. This role is vital in ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations across our diverse construction projects. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring robust safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization, all managed through effective remote communication channels. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of UK health and safety legislation within the construction sector, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to influence and train personnel at all levels. This is a critical role for driving best practices in safety management and contributing to a secure working environment for all, regardless of their location.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage the company's health and safety management system.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and site inspections to identify hazards and recommend control measures.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation and standards.
- Deliver health and safety training programs to employees and subcontractors.
- Advise management on all health and safety matters, promoting a proactive safety culture.
Requirements
- NEBOSH National General Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Significant experience (7+ years) in a dedicated Health and Safety role, preferably within construction.
- In-depth understanding of UK H&S legislation and construction industry best practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively manage and engage teams remotely.
