About the Role
Our client is seeking a seasoned and strategic Senior Insurance Risk Manager to lead their risk management functions in Sunderland . This critical role involves identifying, assessing, and mitigating a wide range of risks across the insurance lifecycle, ensuring the company operates within its risk appetite and complies with regulatory frameworks. You will be responsible for developing and implementing robust risk management strategies, fostering a strong risk-aware culture, and providing expert advice to senior management. This is a key leadership position within a respected insurance provider in the North East of England .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company's enterprise-wide risk management framework and policies.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, identify emerging risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) and report on the company's risk profile to the board and executive management.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., Solvency II, FCA regulations).
- Lead and mentor the risk management team, fostering a culture of risk awareness and proactive risk management.
- Collaborate with business units to embed risk management principles into decision-making processes.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in risk management , preferably within the insurance or financial services sector.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful risk management frameworks.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and risk management best practices.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
- Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., CRISC, PRM, FRM) are highly advantageous.
- Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
