About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Insurance Underwriter specializing in Commercial Lines to join their established team in Derby . This role is integral to assessing and pricing complex commercial risks, developing underwriting strategies, and managing a portfolio of business clients. You will leverage your extensive market knowledge and technical expertise to make sound underwriting decisions, ensuring profitability and sustainable growth. Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite and price complex commercial insurance risks, including property, liability, and business interruption.
- Develop and implement underwriting guidelines and strategies for commercial lines of business.
- Analyze financial statements, risk assessments, and market data to determine appropriate terms and conditions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and agents.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior underwriters.
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
Requirements
- Significant experience as an Underwriter, with a strong focus on commercial insurance lines.
- In-depth knowledge of commercial insurance products, markets, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a challenging workload and make sound judgments.
- Relevant professional qualifications (e.g., ACII) are highly preferred.
