Senior Lighting Artist

About the Role

Our client, a creative force in the Arts & Entertainment sector based in Norwich , is seeking a highly skilled Senior Lighting Artist to bring environments and scenes to life. This role is fundamental to establishing the mood, atmosphere, and visual storytelling of projects through masterful control of light and shadow. You will collaborate with a team of talented artists and technical directors to ensure visually stunning and technically sound results. This is an excellent opportunity for an artist with a strong eye for detail and a passion for creating immersive visual experiences within the dynamic East Anglia region.

Key Responsibilities

• Create compelling lighting for 3D scenes, environments, and characters that enhances the overall artistic vision.
• Collaborate with art directors and environment artists to achieve specific moods and aesthetics.
• Optimize lighting setups for performance in real-time engines or other rendering pipelines.
• Develop and maintain lighting assets and documentation within the project's asset management system .
• Troubleshoot and resolve lighting-related technical issues.
• Mentor junior lighting artists and provide constructive feedback on their work.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of professional experience as a Lighting Artist in the gaming, film, or animation industry .
• Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in lighting, rendering, and composition for 3D environments .
• Proficiency with industry-standard lighting and rendering software, and experience with game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity).
• Deep understanding of light, color theory, and their impact on visual storytelling.
• Experience with scripting for automation or workflow enhancement is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
