Senior Lighting Artist

About the Role

Our client, a highly respected game development studio based in Glasgow , is seeking a talented Senior Lighting Artist to enhance the visual fidelity of their upcoming projects. You will be responsible for creating mood, atmosphere, and visual appeal by expertly crafting lighting for game environments and characters. This role involves close collaboration with environment artists, technical artists, and art directors to achieve a consistent and visually stunning aesthetic. As a senior member of the team, you will also contribute to defining lighting standards and mentoring junior artists, working within a creative and collaborative studio culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement high-quality lighting for game environments, characters, and cinematics.
• Collaborate with art and design teams to establish the mood, tone, and visual style of the game.
• Optimize lighting solutions for performance across multiple platforms.
• Develop and maintain lighting asset libraries and documentation.
• Troubleshoot lighting-related issues and provide technical support to the art team.
• Mentor junior lighting artists and contribute to best practices for lighting implementation.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Lighting Artist in the video game industry.
• Proficiency with industry-standard game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity.
• Strong understanding of lighting principles, colour theory, and composition.
• Experience with DCC tools (Maya, 3ds Max) and texture editing software (Photoshop).
• Excellent eye for detail and a passion for creating visually immersive experiences.
