About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a specialization in robotics to join their advanced engineering team in Oxford . This role is critical for designing, developing, and optimizing sophisticated robotic systems and components. You will be at the forefront of mechanical innovation, working on challenging projects that require creative problem-solving and a deep understanding of mechanics, materials, and mechatronics. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design and development of robotic systems, including manipulators, end-effectors, and mobile platforms.
- Utilize advanced CAD software and simulation tools to design components, perform stress analysis, and optimize designs for weight, strength, and performance.
- Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, software developers, and control systems specialists to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and mechatronic components.
- Develop and implement testing protocols to validate the performance, durability, and reliability of robotic systems.
- Create detailed technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs), adhering to rigorous industry standards.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with a focus on robotics or mechatronics.
- Significant experience (8+ years) in mechanical design, with a proven track record in the robotics or automation industry.
- Expertise in robotics CAD software , simulation tools (FEA, dynamics), and control system interfaces.
- Strong understanding of kinematics, dynamics, materials science, and manufacturing processes relevant to robotics.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
