Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Robotics

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a specialization in robotics to join their advanced engineering team in Oxford . Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of robotic systems, including manipulators, end-effectors, and mobile platforms.
• Utilize advanced CAD software and simulation tools to design components, perform stress analysis, and optimize designs for weight, strength, and performance.
• Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, software developers, and control systems specialists to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and mechatronic components.
• Develop and implement testing protocols to validate the performance, durability, and reliability of robotic systems.
• Create detailed technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs), adhering to rigorous industry standards.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with a focus on robotics or mechatronics.
• Significant experience (8+ years) in mechanical design, with a proven track record in the robotics or automation industry.
• Expertise in robotics CAD software , simulation tools (FEA, dynamics), and control system interfaces.
• Strong understanding of kinematics, dynamics, materials science, and manufacturing processes relevant to robotics.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
