Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative team in Portsmouth . Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex mechanical systems, from concept generation through to production support.
• Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using advanced CAD software.
• Conduct thorough engineering analysis, including FEA and tolerance stack-up, to validate designs and ensure performance.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineering, software, and manufacturing, to achieve project objectives.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their technical development and design capabilities.
• Manage project timelines and resources effectively, ensuring successful project delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical design, with a proven track record in complex system design.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks or Inventor, and associated PDM systems.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials selection, and design for manufacture (DFM).
• Experience with engineering simulation tools for stress, thermal, and fluid analysis.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for the UK market.
