About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their pioneering technology firm in Cambridge . This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in the UK. You will play a critical role in the design and development of highly innovative mechanical systems for advanced applications. This position requires a seasoned engineer with a strong theoretical foundation and practical experience in delivering complex designs from concept to reality. You will collaborate virtually with a team of world-class engineers and scientists, contributing to projects that are at the forefront of technological advancement and scientific discovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of sophisticated mechanical systems and components, from ideation through to production.
- Perform advanced CAD modelling and create detailed engineering documentation.
- Conduct comprehensive FEA and CFD simulations to predict and optimize performance under various conditions.
- Collaborate closely with research scientists, electrical engineers, and software developers in a remote setting.
- Ensure designs meet stringent performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
- Provide technical mentorship to other engineers and contribute to strategic technical planning.
Requirements
- A Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design, with a significant portion in senior or lead roles.
- Expertise in advanced CAD packages (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo) and simulation software.
- Deep understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, structural mechanics, and materials science.
- Proven track record of delivering complex, innovative mechanical solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills essential for a remote work environment.
