Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in Leicester . This role is integral to the development of cutting-edge mechanical systems, contributing to projects that demand precision, reliability, and advanced engineering solutions. You will be at the forefront of design innovation, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to bring complex concepts to life from initial ideation through to production, ensuring that all designs meet stringent performance and quality standards within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of mechanical components and systems using CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
• Conduct thorough stress analysis , thermal simulations, and other FEA to validate designs.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to ensure designs are feasible and cost-effective for mass production .
• Generate detailed technical drawings, BOMs, and product specifications.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and standards.
• Oversee prototype development and testing, troubleshooting any issues that arise.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in mechanical design , preferably in product development.
• Proficiency in advanced CAD/CAE tools and simulation software.
• Strong understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and DFM (Design for Manufacturing).
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a detail-oriented approach to engineering challenges.
• Experience with project management and working within cross-functional teams.
