Senior Mechanical Engineer - Product Development

About the Role

Our client is looking for a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their vibrant product development team based in Leeds . In this role, you will play a key part in the entire product lifecycle, from conceptualization and design through to prototyping, testing, and manufacturing liaison. You will contribute to the creation of innovative and reliable mechanical products that meet market demands. This position requires a blend of creative design skills and a rigorous engineering approach, working within a collaborative environment that values innovation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of new products and product enhancements.
• Utilize CAD software to create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and assemblies.
• Conduct FEA simulations and other analyses to predict product performance and identify potential failures.
• Collaborate with industrial designers, electrical engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
• Oversee the build and testing of prototypes, analyze results, and implement design modifications.
• Contribute to design reviews and present technical findings to project teams and management.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in product development and mechanical design.
• Proficiency in parametric CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and simulation tools.
• Solid understanding of materials selection, plastic injection molding, and metal fabrication processes.
• Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with excellent communication skills.
