Senior Mechanical Engineer - R&D

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their advanced Research and Development team in Southampton . You will be responsible for leading complex mechanical design projects, from conceptualization through to prototype and validation. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex mechanical systems and components for R&D projects.
• Utilize advanced CAD software and FEA tools to model, simulate, and optimize designs.
• Develop and execute rigorous testing procedures to validate design performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, software, and materials engineers, to integrate mechanical solutions.
• Contribute to the technical strategy and roadmap for future product innovations.
• Document designs, analyses, and test results thoroughly, ensuring clear communication to stakeholders.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical design and R&D, with a strong portfolio of innovative projects.
• Expertise in SolidWorks , CATIA, or similar high-end CAD software.
• Proficiency in advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is essential.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a creative approach to engineering challenges.
