Senior Mechanical Engineer - Specialised Equipment

About the Role

Our client, a leader in bespoke engineering solutions, is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Wolverhampton . This role involves the design and development of highly specialised equipment for niche industrial applications. You will lead technical aspects of projects, from initial concept and detailed design through to testing and commissioning. This position offers the chance to work on technically demanding projects and contribute to the development of innovative engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of complex, specialised equipment using advanced CAD tools.
• Conduct rigorous engineering analysis, including FEA , CFD , and kinematic studies.
• Develop detailed technical specifications, manufacturing drawings, and project documentation.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including control systems engineers and project managers, to ensure system integration.
• Oversee prototype development and testing phases, troubleshooting and resolving design challenges.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.

Requirements

• MSc in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in mechanical design, with a strong focus on specialised equipment.
• Expertise in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and advanced simulation packages.
• In-depth knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and control systems integration.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a project-focused, on-site team environment.
