Senior Metallurgist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and analytical Senior Metallurgist to join their remote operations team, providing expert support to mining projects across the UK, including those near Edinburgh . In this role, you will be responsible for optimizing mineral processing and extraction techniques to maximize recovery rates and product quality. You will analyze metallurgical data, troubleshoot processing challenges, and contribute to the design and improvement of processing plants. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced metallurgist to leverage their expertise in a remote capacity, influencing operational efficiency and contributing to innovative solutions within the global mining sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot metallurgical processes for mineral concentration and extraction.
• Analyze ore samples and conduct pilot plant testing to determine optimal processing parameters.
• Ensure efficient operation of processing plants, monitoring key performance indicators.
• Provide technical guidance and support to plant operations and engineering teams remotely.
• Investigate and resolve metallurgical issues impacting recovery, grade, or cost-effectiveness.
• Stay abreast of new metallurgical technologies and methodologies, recommending their adoption where appropriate.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in extractive metallurgy, preferably within base or precious metals.
• Strong understanding of mineral processing operations, including comminution, flotation, leaching, and refining.
• Proficiency in metallurgical accounting and process simulation software.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach.
• Demonstrated ability to provide effective technical consultation remotely.
