Senior Mine Engineer - Planning and Design

About the Role

Our client is recruiting a highly motivated Senior Mine Engineer to focus on planning and design aspects of their mining projects. Based near Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, UK , this hybrid role involves contributing to strategic mine planning, optimizing extraction methods, and ensuring operational efficiency and safety. You will work closely with exploration and operations teams, utilizing advanced software to develop and refine mine plans. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and update long-term and short-term mine plans and schedules.
• Design and implement efficient and safe mining methods, considering geological conditions and resource characteristics.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects and expansions.
• Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan) to create detailed 3D models and layouts.
• Collaborate with operations, geotechnical, and environmental teams to integrate all aspects of mine development.
• Provide technical expertise and support to operations personnel, troubleshooting design-related issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in mine planning and design, preferably within the mining sector .
• Expertise in industry-standard mine planning and modeling software.
• Strong understanding of mine economics, surveying, and geological principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing on-site collaboration with remote design work.
