Senior Mine Planner

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mine Planner to contribute to their strategic development and operational execution in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, UK . This role is central to designing and optimizing long-term mine plans that ensure efficient and profitable resource extraction. You will be responsible for developing comprehensive mine layouts, production schedules, and resource utilization strategies, working closely with geological, engineering, and operational teams. The ideal candidate will possess advanced technical skills in mine planning software and a thorough understanding of mining economics and best practices, playing a key role in shaping the future success of the company's mining operations .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed short-term and long-term mine plans, considering geological, technical, and economic factors.
• Optimize mine designs, including pit slopes, access routes, and production sequencing, for open-pit or underground operations.
• Perform mine economics analysis and sensitivity studies to support planning decisions.
• Collaborate with geologists to define resource blocks and with engineers to integrate infrastructure requirements.
• Utilize advanced mine planning software (e.g., Vulcan, Deswik, Surpac) to generate plans and visualize operations.
• Monitor plan adherence and provide guidance for adjustments based on actual performance and changing conditions.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in mine planning and design.
• Demonstrated expertise with industry-standard mine planning and modeling software.
• Strong understanding of mining methods, economics, and operational constraints.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Proficiency in creating clear and comprehensive technical reports and presentations.
