About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mining Engineer specializing in Planning & Design to join their established team in Sunderland . This role is pivotal in conceptualizing, designing, and optimizing mining operations for both greenfield and brownfield projects. You will be responsible for creating detailed mine plans, evaluating feasibility studies, and ensuring that designs are technically sound, economically viable, and adhere to stringent safety and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities
- Develop long-term and short-term mine plans, including production schedules, pit designs, and infrastructure layouts.
- Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects and expansions.
- Utilize advanced mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) for design and optimization.
- Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and environmental consultants to integrate project requirements.
- Assess and implement innovative mining technologies and methodologies to enhance efficiency and safety.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, cost estimates, and project proposals.
Requirements
- BEng or MEng in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Over 7 years of experience in mine planning and design, with a strong portfolio of successfully delivered projects.
- Expert proficiency in industry-standard mine planning and design software.
- Deep understanding of mining methods, geomechanics, and mine systems engineering.
- Experience with underground and/or surface mining operations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
