Remote Senior Mining Engineer - Planning & Design

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Remote Senior Mining Engineer to join their global mining team. This position is fully remote, allowing you to leverage your expertise in mine planning and design from anywhere in the UK, contributing to projects based in and around Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK . You will be responsible for developing innovative and efficient mine plans, optimizing resource extraction, and ensuring the safety and sustainability of operations. This role requires a proactive individual with a deep understanding of mining engineering principles and the ability to work effectively in a distributed team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize detailed mine plans, including production schedules, equipment selection, and resource allocation.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects and expansions.
• Utilize advanced mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan) to create 3D models and simulations.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements for mining operations.
• Collaborate remotely with site operations teams, geologists, and other engineering disciplines.
• Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior mining engineers and planning staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in mine planning, design, and operations, with a strong emphasis on technical analysis .
• Proficiency in industry-standard mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, or Mine2-4D.
• Strong understanding of different mining methods (underground and open-pit) and their application.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently.
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects and communicate complex technical information effectively in a remote setting.
