About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mining Engineer with expertise in mine planning to join their team in Bristol . This role is central to developing long-term strategies for resource extraction, ensuring efficient and safe operations. You will be responsible for designing mine layouts, optimizing production schedules, and conducting feasibility studies. This position requires a deep understanding of mining engineering principles and the ability to translate geological data into practical, executable mining plans within the mining sector .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and update long-term and short-term mine plans, considering geological data, operational constraints, and economic factors.
- Design mine layouts, including access routes, extraction sequences, and waste disposal areas.
- Conduct mine feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new projects and expansions.
- Optimize production schedules to maximize resource recovery and operational efficiency.
- Apply advanced mine planning software and modeling techniques to complex scenarios.
- Collaborate with operations, geology, and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of plans.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in mine planning and design, with a strong focus on resource extraction .
- Proficiency in industry-standard mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac).
- Solid understanding of geotechnical principles, mine ventilation, and safety regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex plans effectively in the Bristol area.
