Senior Mining Geologist

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Mining Geologist to join their established team in Portsmouth . This role is instrumental in the exploration, evaluation, and delineation of mineral resources. You will be responsible for geological mapping, core logging, sampling, and the interpretation of geological data to support mine planning and resource estimation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of geological principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to contribute significantly to the success of mining projects in the Hampshire area and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geological mapping and structural analysis of mine sites.
• Log and interpret diamond and reverse circulation drill core for mineralisation and lithology.
• Design and implement sampling programs, ensuring data integrity and quality.
• Perform geological modelling and resource estimation using industry-standard software.
• Collaborate with mine engineers and production teams to provide geological input for mine planning and operations.
• Contribute to technical reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or a related earth science discipline.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in geology within the mining sector, with a focus on resource definition.
• Proficiency in geological software such as Leapfrog, ArcGIS, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of geological controls on mineralization and mining methods.
• Excellent field geology skills and the ability to work effectively in challenging conditions.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
