Senior Network Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to join their robust IT infrastructure team in Nottingham . You will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the company's complex network infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of network protocols, hardware, and security best practices to ensure high availability, performance, and security of our network services. You will work with a team of IT professionals dedicated to supporting the business's technological needs and driving infrastructure improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and other network infrastructures.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Configure and manage network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Implement and maintain network security measures to protect against unauthorized access and threats.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams and configuration details.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of network services with other systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering and administration.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), and network services (DNS, DHCP).
• Experience with network security technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent experience are highly desirable.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
