About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Operations Engineer to join their dedicated network operations centre (NOC), operating on a fully remote basis . This critical role involves ensuring the uninterrupted performance, reliability, and security of their extensive telecommunications network. You will be responsible for monitoring network health, responding to incidents, performing proactive maintenance, and contributing to the continuous improvement of operational processes within the fast-paced telecoms environment .
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively monitor network performance, availability, and security using state-of-the-art monitoring tools.
- Respond to network alerts and incidents, performing rapid diagnostics and implementing effective resolutions to minimize service disruption.
- Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and associated systems.
- Execute planned maintenance activities, upgrades, and configuration changes in accordance with established procedures.
- Develop and refine operational runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and incident management processes.
- Collaborate with network engineering and architecture teams to provide operational feedback and support new deployments.
- Mentor junior NOC staff and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence.
Requirements
- Proven experience (5+ years) in network operations or a similar hands-on network engineering role, preferably within the telecommunications sector .
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), switching, and WAN technologies.
- Hands-on experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds) and ticketing systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting complex network issues across various hardware and software platforms.
- Experience with network security best practices and familiarity with security incident response.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, suitable for a remote working environment.
