Senior Network Operations Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Network Operations Engineer to join their vital operations team in Wolverhampton . This role is essential for maintaining the performance, availability, and integrity of our client's extensive telecommunications network. You will be responsible for monitoring network health, responding to incidents, implementing changes, and ensuring that all systems operate within defined service level agreements. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor network performance and availability using advanced NMS tools, identifying and resolving potential issues proactively.
• Respond to and manage network incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing timely fixes to minimize service disruption.
• Implement network changes, upgrades, and configurations in accordance with change management procedures.
• Collaborate with engineering and deployment teams to ensure smooth transitions of new services and infrastructure into the production environment.
• Develop and maintain operational procedures, runbooks, and documentation for network infrastructure and incident management.
• Provide on-call support and participate in a shift rotation as required to ensure 24/7 network coverage.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in network operations or a similar role within a telecommunications environment.
• Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS), network security, and enterprise network architectures.
• Hands-on experience with network monitoring, troubleshooting, and analysis tools.
• Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation of operational tasks is highly advantageous.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a team-oriented setting in Wolverhampton .
