Senior Network Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior Network Security Engineer to bolster their cybersecurity defenses in Reading . This crucial role involves the design, implementation, and management of network security infrastructure to protect against evolving cyber threats. You will be responsible for configuring firewalls, intrusion detection systems, VPNs, and other security tools, as well as responding to security incidents. Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain robust network security solutions, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and endpoint security.
• Monitor network traffic for security threats and anomalies, investigating and responding to security incidents.
• Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices across the network infrastructure.
• Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests.
• Manage and configure security hardware and software, ensuring they are up-to-date and functioning optimally.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of network design and operations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in network security engineering or a related cybersecurity role.
• In-depth knowledge of network protocols, security technologies, and threat landscapes.
• Hands-on experience with major firewall vendors (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco, Fortinet) and security frameworks.
• Experience with security monitoring tools, SIEM systems, and incident response procedures.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or CCNP Security are highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
