Senior Operations Geologist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Operations Geologist to join their remote-first team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to our operations from anywhere within the UK. You will play a vital role in supporting real-time drilling operations, providing geological expertise to ensure safe and efficient well construction. This includes interpreting incoming geological data, making critical geological decisions, and communicating effectively with drilling crews and onshore teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong geological knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, remote working environment within the oil and gas sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide real-time geological support during drilling operations, including lithology and formation evaluation.
• Monitor drilling progress and advise on geological hazards and opportunities.
• Correlate well logs and seismic data to update geological models as drilling progresses.
• Make informed decisions on casing points, mud weight, and other geological parameters.
• Collaborate with drilling engineers, geophysicists, and reservoir engineers remotely.
• Prepare end-of-well geological reports and contribute to post-drilling analysis.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations geology , with a significant focus on real-time drilling support.
• Proficiency in well log interpretation, correlation, and geological modeling software.
• Strong understanding of drilling processes, geological hazards, and risk mitigation.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex geological information clearly and concisely.
• Proven ability to work effectively and independently in a remote team setting.
• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related earth science field.
