About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Operations Geologist to join their asset management team in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire . This role is essential for providing real-time geological support during drilling and production operations, ensuring the safe and efficient extraction of hydrocarbons from existing fields within the Oil & Gas sector. You will interpret well log data, correlate geological formations, and provide critical geological insights to the operations team. This hands-on position requires strong technical skills, quick decision-making abilities, and effective communication to optimize well placement and reservoir characterization in a dynamic environment, contributing directly to the success of ongoing projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide real-time geological support during drilling operations, including log analysis and formation evaluation.
- Correlate geological markers and define reservoir boundaries based on incoming well data.
- Collaborate closely with drilling engineers, production engineers, and reservoir engineers to optimize well trajectory and target objectives.
- Monitor reservoir performance and provide geological input for production optimization strategies.
- Prepare geological reports, summaries, and presentations for operational and management teams.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of geological models for producing fields.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Geology or a related Earth Science discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in operations geology, with a focus on the Oil & Gas industry.
- Proficiency in well log analysis software (e.g., Techlog, IDS) and geological interpretation.
- Strong understanding of sedimentology, stratigraphy, and structural geology relevant to producing basins.
- Experience in core description and analysis, and biostratigraphy interpretation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, adaptability, and strong communication abilities.
