About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Optical Network Engineer to join their innovative team based in Cambridge . Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer optical network solutions, including DWDM, OTN, and related transport technologies.
- Plan and oversee the deployment of new optical fiber infrastructure and equipment.
- Monitor optical network performance, troubleshoot faults, and implement restoration procedures.
- Optimize network capacity and bandwidth utilization for maximum efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on network upgrades, integration, and new service rollouts.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including design diagrams and test procedures.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in optical networking technology and standards.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as an Optical Network Engineer or similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of optical transport network principles (DWDM, ROADM, OTN).
- Familiarity with optical test equipment and troubleshooting techniques.
- Experience with network design and capacity planning tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, suitable for a hybrid working environment.
- Relevant certifications in optical networking or telecommunications are a plus.
