Job Description
Senior Performance Marketing Manager (B2C)
Over the last two years, consumer growth at Octopus Electric Vehicles has accelerated fast.
Key Responsibilities
- Own our paid search engine: Take day-to-day ownership of Google and Microsoft paid search, from campaign structure and search query analysis through to bids, budgets, testing and optimisation.
- Lead our move into SA360: Help take us from our current Google Ads and Microsoft Ads setup into SA360, shaping the migration approach and putting in place clean structures, tracking, naming conventions and ways of working that will scale.
- Build out our programmatic capability: Help us evolve beyond our current Demand Gen activity and develop a stronger display strategy, using your experience of DV360 and Campaign Manager 360 to determine how we should structure, activate, measure and optimise programmatic campaigns.
- Grow paid social: Take our existing Meta activity and work out where paid social can play a bigger role in our growth mix, testing new audiences, creative, campaign approaches and platforms where there’s a strong commercial case.
- Get properly stuck into the detail: Dive into search queries, audiences, campaign structures, bids, budgets and performance to understand what’s working, what’s wasting spend and where the next opportunity is.
- Spend smartly: Manage digital spend within agreed monthly targets, keep a close eye on pacing and performance and make clear recommendations on where to push, pause or test next.
- Test, learn, repeat: Partner with our Content Creator and Design team to test new creative hooks, formats, audiences, messaging and landing-page experiences across our paid channels.
- Make reporting actually useful: Turn channel data into clear, practical insight. We don’t just want to know what happened - we want you to help us understand why, what it means commercially and what we should do next.
- Own landing page launches & web optimisations: Take end-to-end ownership when campaigns need new landing pages, quizzes or other web experiences, from drafting copy with support from the team through to building, tracking and launching them using our CMS/web tools.
- Think beyond platform metrics: Look at performance through the full funnel, helping us understand which activity is generating valuable customers and where we can improve conversion from click through to order.
- Make things happen: Coordinate briefs, assets, links, tracking and launches across content, design, web and the wider marketing team so campaigns get live quickly and with as little faff as possible. You’ll also be happy jumping into wider growth priorities when the team needs it.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on performance marketing experience , ideally gained within an agency, media or technically strong in-house environment. We’re open on exact years of experience - what matters most is the depth of your technical skills and your ability to operate independently.
- Excellent paid search expertise. You should be confident personally building, managing and optimising meaningful paid search activity across Google Ads and ideally Microsoft Ads, including campaign structure, search query analysis, bidding, budget pacing and performance reporting.
- Strong SA360 knowledge and hands-on experience. We’re not already operating in SA360, so we need someone who understands the platform well enough to help us migrate into it and establish good ways of working from the outset.
- Hands-on DV360 and Campaign Manager 360 experience. You’ll bring experience of how programmatic activity should be set up, activated, tracked and optimised and be comfortable helping us build this capability rather than simply inheriting an established programme.
- Paid social experience , ideally within Meta Ads Manager. We don’t currently have a huge paid social programme, so we’re looking for someone who can see the opportunity, test intelligently and help us work out where it should sit within the wider media mix.
- Strong tracking and measurement fundamentals. You understand why conversion tracking, UTMs, audiences, naming conventions and clean campaign structures matter - and you’re comfortable troubleshooting when something doesn’t look right.
- A builder's mindset. You’ll inherit plenty to optimise, but some of the biggest opportunities in this role are things we haven’t fully built yet. You’ll enjoy taking something from “we should probably be doing this better” to a clear approach that actually works.
- A proper performance mindset. You enjoy digging into the numbers, finding wasted spend, spotting opportunities and working out what we should do next. You care about commercial outcomes, not just making platform metrics look good.
- Confidence and ownership. You’ll be comfortable being the subject-matter expert in the room, forming a point of view and making recommendations - while also being happy to challenge and be challenged.
- A roll-your-sleeves-up attitude. This is an individual contributor role and we want someone who genuinely enjoys being hands-on. We move quickly, things change and there’s always something new to figure out.
- High standards, low ego. We’re ambitious and performance-focused, but very collaborative. You’ll care deeply about doing brilliant work while being open to feedback, happy to change your mind and keen to help the wider squad succeed.
- Someone who makes the team better. You’ll be proactive, positive, commercially minded and kind. You’ll enjoy working at pace, sharing ideas, solving problems together and the odd “this isn’t technically my job, but I can help” moment. We take the work seriously, but not ourselves.
