About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Pharmaceutical Chemist to join their innovative research and development team based in Milton Keynes . This role involves leading critical projects focused on the synthesis and characterization of novel drug candidates. Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute synthetic routes for novel pharmaceutical compounds, optimizing reaction conditions for yield and purity.
• Perform detailed structural elucidation and characterization of synthesized molecules using various analytical techniques (e.g., NMR, Mass Spectrometry, HPLC).
• Lead complex chemical research projects from inception to completion, including experimental design and data interpretation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including biologists, pharmacologists, and formulation scientists.
• Maintain meticulous laboratory notebooks and prepare comprehensive research reports and presentations.
• Mentor junior chemists and provide technical guidance on synthetic and analytical methodologies.

Requirements

• PhD or MSc in Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in synthetic organic chemistry within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Extensive knowledge of modern synthetic techniques and analytical instrumentation.
• Proven track record of successfully synthesizing and characterizing complex organic molecules.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a creative approach to research challenges.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable working in a hybrid office setting.
